Applications Master File

(Apps.exe) This program will create within the system the name and description of the applications that will comprise each module in the system. The descriptions entered here will become a part of the main menu on your system.

Prior to setting up the Applications Master File, you will need to look at:

User Master File

User Groups Master File

Assign Users to Groups

Field Descriptions/Mandatory Fields

Unless explicitly listed here, fields on the form will have speed tips associated with them - simply move the mouse over the relevant field. There may be more detailed information in the glossary on certain fields.

Creating an Application

To enter a new application, key in CTRL+N, click the New icon or choose File then New from the application menu. The information which you are required to enter for every group is as follows (you will get a warning message if you try to save a record with any of these values missing):

• Enter the Application Name. This is the name of the executable program.

• Enter a Description of the Application. The text that you enter here will appear on your menu as the option to bring up the application. Try to be accurate and specific as you can be when entering this text. This is the description of the application that all users will see.

Deleting an Application

To delete an application, choose the application to be deleted and key in CTRL+D, click on Delete icon or select File then Delete from the application menu. Answer yes to the question asking if you are sure you want to complete this operation.
