Searching Fields in Applications

When you are in a field, there is a variety of ways to find a particular record.

Lookup (F8)

Place your cursor in the field in which you'd like to find a particular record. Double click in the field box. A pop up screen will be displayed which will allow you to search in that field. For example, if your cursor is in the Material Code field, you can do a Lookup by Material Code.

In certain programs, when a user is in any of the Lookup screens within that program the user may export the lookup information by selecting File and then Export and choose the Export Format.

Super Lookup (F9)

Whenever the Material Code resides with in program, you can click in the Material Code field and press the F9 key.  This will access the Material Code Super Lookup screen, which allows the user to query the database for existing information.  The user can search by Material Code, Description, Vendor Catalog Number, Manufacturer Catalog Number, Product Class, Sub Code Class (Sub Class), P.O. Class, Vendor, Buyer, Manufacturer, Active and Inactive items.

When the user double clicks in the appropriate field, a lookup box will appear on the screen.  The user can choose either Standard, which will access the information exactly as you enter it, or Anywhere in Field, which will access all possible matches within the entire body of the field based on the selection.  As you enter the characters in your query, you will notice in the box below, that the possible choices will narrow as the characters increase. The user may choose to narrow the search using And or Or, by checking the box, and entering the first criteria and then press the space bar and enter the second criteria.  When you locate the correct item, double click on the line in the lower box to transfer the information to the screen.
